Door Entry & Access and their applications
Within this part of the web site we
try and give you an understanding of the applications of Door entry & Access
systems
Most people
when asked "What do you use a Door or Access system for" they reply "To
stop unwanted intrusion etc".
The true scope of use for these types of systems are almost unlimited.
SOME OF THE APPLICATIONS FOR
THESE SYSTEMS
A block of private flats would have a relatively
simple system which will have a call button or coded keypad with an internal speaker and
an electronic lock, by pushing a button, a handset will ring in a flat
and the occupant can speak to the caller, if they grant entry they push a button
which opens the lock to allow entry to the premises. A more advanced system
could have a small camera fitted in the keypad and a screen on the handset so
the occupant could identify the caller by sight.
For places such as
hospitals, colleges and businesses, a more advanced system with a coded keypad
and/or a proximity tag incorporated in the system to allow entry to authorised
personnel would be more appropriate and it still works on the same principle.
Instead of a phone on every door, one is located at a pre-determined point such
as a reception area.
For businesses which want to monitor staff
movements in and out of their place of work can use a system of card
readers on the main entry/exit doors in place of the old time clock.
Using this method, staff have to swipe a coded card or tag to enter or leave the companies premises.
You can also use this system for
restricted areas where only certain personnel are allowed to enter
and as each card can be individually programmed, you can decide who can gain
access to where and when and all this information is recorded by software on allocated PC's.
As you can see the
list for using Access systems is endless and so are the variables for the right equipment
in the right situation.
